What is Holistic Herbalism?

The Earth holds a wisdom that cannot be replicated by human hands. Each plant holds within it a medicine, that, when used properly, can move the whole being into a greater state of integrated wellness.

Herbalism is the practice of cultivating, gathering, studying, identifying, and preparing herbs for medicinal, culinary, and therapeutic use. I practice a form of Herbalism that identifies with the theory of Holism. Holism believes that no eco-system, no living being, can be defined as the sum of all of it’s parts, nor treated as such.

In my practice with clients, as well as out in the field when I am foraging or Wild-Crafting local medicinal herbs, I act out of this belief. I look at the whole picture, and how every part of it comes together in such a miraculous, harmonious way, to create a unified organism. Every part of that organism works together in order to sustain the presence of life.

I think about the plants I am harvesting, whether or not they are endangered in any way, the possibilities of other creatures needing them for sustenance or medicine just as much as me. I look at all of the systems of the body working together with one another and create Comprehensive Health Plans that take into account every aspect of what it means to be healthy: Body, Mind, Heart, Spirit.

This Holistic approach influences how I operate every aspect of my practice

When I see clients one on one for Whole Health consultation, I create the herbal formulas, tailored specifically to that individual, and their unique composition, constitution, and lifestyle needs.

I studied herbal medicine with Nicole Telkes of the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine, where I was educated in Bio-Regional plant medicine, ethical wild-crafting, and Holistic Clinical practice.
